Mission Conf. Players of Week 11-11-01

As is the case every week, there were some terrific individual performances around the Mission Conference. One standout was El Camino's Keenan Curtis (6-3, 280, So, DE, Palisades) who tallied five tackles (two solo), four QB hurries, one sack, one pass deflection, and returned an interception 64 yards for a TD.


• Palomar's Andy Goodenough (6-4, 217, So, QB, Corvallis, Ore.) completed 21-of-36 passes for 250 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions.

• Fullerton's Brian Bartczak (6-0, 192, So, QB, Valencia) tied a 34-year-old school record with five TD passes in one game. He completed 14-of-25 attempts for 222 yards, with one INT.

• Pasadena's Nathan Chandler (6-7, 250, So, QB, Southlake, TX) completed 14-of-23 passes for 202 yards and two TDs. His 29 TD passes in 2001 ties a PCC single-season record.

• El Camino's Ron Venters (6-3, 190, Fr, QB, Bakersfield) led the Warrior offense with 11-of-16 passing for 169 yards, three TDs, and no INTs.

• Riverside's Ronnie Hill (6-1, 190, Fr, QB, Temecula) set a school record with 23 completions on 39 attempts for 324 yards and four TDs.

Running Backs

• Pasadena's Jonathan Smith (5-9, 180, So, RB, Narbonne) set two Mission Conference single-game records for rushing yards and all-purpose yards; he also tied another MC mark with six TDs in one game. Smith ran the ball 34 times for 353 yards; caught five passes for 102 yards; and returned two kickoffs for 60 yards — totaling 515 all-purpose yards. He becomes PCC's all-time single-season rushing leader with 1,659 and the all-time scoring leader at PCC with 26 TDs and 156 points, surpassing Jackie Robinson (131).

• Orange Coast's Niles Mittasch (6-0, 195, Fr, RB, Eugene, OR) ran for a career-high 180 yards on 33 carries.

• Palomar's Chris Williams (5-7, 165, Fr, RB, Oceanside) ran for 104 yards on 22 carries.

• Saddleback's Darren Shorter (5-11, 195, Fr, RB, Cypress) carried the ball 16 times for a season-best 194 yards and three TDs.


• Riverside's Rickey Moore (6-0, 185, Fr, WR, Palomar Valley) set two school records with 14 catches for 234 yards. His three TD catches against El Camino also tied another school record

• Palomar's Deondre Alexander (5-11, 175, So, WR, Fontana) caught six passes for 73 yards and four TDs.

• Fullerton's Jeff Weber (5-9, 160, So, WR, Pacifica) hauled in five passes for 92 yards, with two TDs (5, 25).

• Santa Ana's Kris Hall (5-11, 165, So, WR, Esperanza) grabbed five receptions for 110 yards.

• El Camino's Harris Wells (6-3, 205, Fr, TE, University) caught three passes for 119 yards, including TDs of 67 and 33 yards.


• El Camino's Keenan Curtis (6-3, 280, So, DE, Palisades) tallied five tackles (two solo), four QB hurries, one sack, one pass deflection, and returned an interception 64 yards for a TD.

• Palomar's Andrew Dorsey (6-2, 225, Fr, LB, Fallbrook) registered nine tackles (six solo) and a fumble recovery.

• Fullerton's Adam Lancisero (5-9, 193, Fr, LB, El Modena) led the Hornets with 13 tackles (eight solo), two QB sacks for minus 10 yards, and one pass breakup.

• Pasadena's James Griffin (6-2, 190, Fr, LB, Memphis, TN) made 10 tackles (two for loss), two sacks, had one fumble recovery and five QB hurries.

• El Camino's Adam Blake (5-11, 205, So, LB, El Segundo) led the Warriors with 13 tackles (10 solo) and added one sack.

• Saddleback's Shane Harris (5-10, 185, So, DB, Woodbridge) posted 11 tackles (three solo) on defense, had three punt returns for 37 yards and punted once for the Gauchos.

• Pasadena's Darryl Moore (5-9, 165, FR, DB, Monrovia) had two interceptions and broke up a pass.

• El Camino's Chris Solomona (6-4, 290, So, DE, San Pedro) had seven tackles (four solo), five QB pressures and one sack.

• Saddleback's Eric Rapley (6-4, 240, So, LB, Trabuco Hills) led the Gauchos defense with 13 tackles (seven solo), limiting Golden West to just 50 yards on the ground.

• Palomar's Andrew Paopao (6-2, 235, Fr, DE, Oceanside) recorded six tackles (three solo, one for loss) and three pass deflections.

• Pasadena's David Harley (6-2, 285, Fr, DL, Tallahassee, FL) had five tackles, one QB sack, and recovered a fumble.

• Fullerton's Deonta Birdsong (5-10, 195, So, DB, Brea Olinda) recorded 11 tackles (five solo); and also returned three punts for 44 yards.

• Orange Coast's Dan Steinau (6-0, 200, Fr, LB, El Toro) led the Pirates with 11 tackles (six solo), including one for loss.

• Santa Ana's Chad Kalilimoku (6-0, 235, So, LB, Roosevelt, HI) had 17 total tackles (11 solo) one QB sack, and one reception for 11 yards.

• El Camino's Ryan Riddell (6-3, 215, Fr, DE, Culver City) had seven tackles (five solo) and four QB hurries.

Kick Returns/All-Purpose/Total Offense

• El Camino's Alvin Marshall (5-9, 185, Fr, RB/KR, Locke) scored two TDs and compiled 242 all-purpose yards: 109 rushing on 21 carries; 52 receiving on seven catches; and 81 kickoff yards on 3 returns.

• Long Beach's Rashon Brooks (5-8, 160, Fr, DB, Wilson) returned a kickoff 91 yards for a TD, and added 4.5 tackles in the Vikings' win.


• Pasadena's Joe Timchenko (6-3, 200, Fr, K, Arroyo) converted all six PATs and added a 38-yard field goal.

• Fullerton's Scott Lambert (5-11, 210, So, PK, Servite) made all three of his PAT attempts and booted field goals of 26 and 45 yards.
