Mission Conf. Players of the Week 11-19

• Fullerton's Brian Bartczak (6-0, 192, So, QB, Valencia) set a school single-game record with 32 completions on 43 attempts for 310 yards and two TDs.

• Mt. San Antonio's Greg Valenzuela (6-1, 190, So, QB,) connected on 15-of-22 passes for 236 yards and three TDs.

Running Backs

• Pasadena's Jonathan Smith (5-9, 180, So, RB, Narbonne) had 24 carries for 143 yards; added an 11-yard TD and two kick returns for 42 yards. Smith set a state all-purpose yardage record with 2,589 yards, breaking OCC's Bart Recktenwald's mark of 2,485 in 1987. He also set Mission Conference season records for most rushing yards with 1,806; most TDs (28); most points (168); and highest average per carry (9.7) on 186 carries.

• Riverside's Marcus Guzman (6-0, 185, So, RB, Norco) ran for 201 yards on 38 carries. Guzman becomes RCC's all-time leading rusher with 2,176 yards, breaking Michael Moore's record of 2,084 set in 1985 and 1986.

• Saddleback's Darren Shorter (5-11, 195, Fr, RB, Cypress) carried the ball 22 times for 120 yards.


• Palomar's Deondre Alexander (5-11, 175, So, WR, Fontana) caught seven passes for 167 yards and three TDs.

• Fullerton's Terrance Moore (6-5, 195, So, WR, Cypress) posted career-highs with 11 catches for 199 yards.

• Pasadena's Hannibal Thomas (6-2, 200, Fr, WR, Lincoln) caught nine passes for 124 yards including three TDs (8, 32, 20).

• Fullerton's Jeff Weber (5-9, 160, So, WR, Pacifica) tied a school single-game record with 13 receptions for 76 yards and two TDs.

• Mt. San Antonio's Dominic Longo (6-0, 185, Fr, WR ) caught six passes for 96 yards and one TD.

• Santa Ana's Kris Hall (5-11, 165, So, WR, Esperanza) grabbed 10 receptions for 165 yards and one TD.

• Orange Coast's Jon Jackson (6-0, 180, So, WR, Temecula Valley) hauled in three passes for 94 yards, including a 52-yard TD.

• Mt. San Antonio's Francis Blay-Miczah (6-2, 230, Fr, LB) tallied eight tackles (six solo), had two pass deflections, and one interception.

• Riverside's Wil Goff (6-6, 250, So, DL, Redlands) recorded six tackles (five solo; two for loss), and recovered two fumbles.

• Jeremy Ellis (6-1, 215, So, LB, Loara) had two of FC's school-record seven INTs; he also had one pass breakup, and two tackles (one for loss).

• Riverside's Curtis Edwards (6-1, 200, So, DB, Rubidoux) posted eight tackles (five solo), three pass deflections, and recovered a fumble for a score.

• Saddleback's Shane Harris (5-10, 185, So, DB, Woodbridge) posted nine tackles (four solo), and broke up one pass on defense, had six punt returns for 51 yards and punted five times for 201 yards.

• Cerritos' John Lopez (6-1, 235, So, LB, St.Paul) had 15 tackles (eight solo).

• Orange Coast's Richie Tovar (6-1, 235, Fr, LB, Los Altos) recorded a game-high 20 tackles (10 solo), including three for loss, and one sack.

• El Camino's Chris Solomona (6-4, 290, So, DE, San Pedro) had 10 tackles (six solo) and two QB sacks.

• Saddleback's Eric Rapley (6-4, 240, So, LB, Trabuco Hills) led the Gaucho defense with 14 tackles (eight solo) in a win against OCC.

• Palomar's Ray Holdcraft (6-1, 248, So, LB, Newport News, VA) recorded seven tackles (three solo), one QB sack, and recovered two fumbles.

• Pasadena's Jeff Runnells (6-3, 210, So, LB, San Dimas) posted seven tackles, one fumble recovery, one pass knock-down and two QB hurries.

• Mt San Antonio's Mau Uiagalelei (6-3, 230, So, LB) had seven tackles, two QB hurries, and recovered a fumble for a score.

• Fullerton's James Benton (6-6, 290, So, DE, Villa Park) registered two QB sacks, two tackles, and three hurries.

• Orange Coast's Dan Steinau (6-0, 200, Fr, LB, El Toro) had 13 tackles (six solo).

• Cerritos' Charles Allgood (6-0, 190, So, FS, Washington) recorded 12 tackles (four solo).

• El Camino's Brian Smith (6-2, 225, Fr, LB, Peninsula) had 11 tackles (seven solo) and one QB sack.

Kick Returns/All-Purpose/Total Offense

• Orange Coast's Vince Strang (5-8, 155, So, WR, Huntington Beach) returned nine punts for 95 yards (10.5 avg.), including three of 30 yards or more; he also returned two kickoffs for 51 yards.


• Pasadena's Joe Timchenko (6-3, 200, Fr, K, Arroyo) connected on 7-of-8 extra points, to give him  the PCC single-season record of 43 PATs.
