Sacramento, CA . . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics (COA) in conjunction with VIMA Productions, its broadcast rights production firm, announced today that Fox Sports Net has agreed to air the Hyundai California Community Football Championship Presented by Blue Diamond and the Visalia-Area Sports Association (VASA).  The game will be played on Saturday, December 8 at Mineral King Bowl Stadium in Visalia, CA.

The championship contest will be aired live by Fox Sports Net West 2 on Saturday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m.  Fox Sports Net Bay Area will also air the game on Saturday, December 8, at 3:00 p.m.

Fox Sports Net West 2 reaches four million homes and Fox Sports Bay Area reaches three million homes. Together, the two affiliates cover the states of California, Nevada and Hawaii. In addition, the regional telecasts may also be viewed live on DirecTV and most home satellite systems.

"This is another key step in our continued efforts to increase our visibility, brand recognition of our programs and our sponsors and spark fan interest," said COA Associate Commissioner Stu Van Horn. "Our football, basketball and track and field telecasts during the 2000-01 season were well-received and we look forward to showcasing the high caliber of our intercollegiate athletic programs once again."

Hal Ramey, sports director of KCBS radio in San Francisco is the play-by-play announcer and he'll share duties with commentator Dave Cox of Bay TV and Cable One. The telecasts are produced by VIMA Productions and directed by Jim Risinger.

On game day, the Visalia Area Sports Association is hosting a special tail-gate party, beginning at 9:00 a.m. to be held at the Mineral King Park, at the east end of the stadium in Visalia. Local radio station KJUG will be hosting several events.  This year's championship game also features several exciting in-game attractions, including a drawing for a brand new  Hyundai Santa Fe SUV donated by Serpa Automotive and a field goal kick for cash worth up to $50,000.   Once again, the high-stepping Tulare High School band is back this year to provide pre-game and half-time entertainment.
