Weekly Individual Achievements (9-7-04)

Here is this week's rundown of selected individual achievements from the past two weekends. All-American QB Joe Ayoob, a Cal commit who attends CCSF, did not disappoint in his first outing. A pair of El Camino defensive ends tallied a total of 6 sacks versus Ventura. And San Mateo RB Joe Griffin carried 20 times for 210 yards. Here are some more highlights...

QUARTERBACKS

SAN FRANCISCO – All-American QB Joseph Ayoob, 6-3, 215, was 22 of 32 for 360 yards and 4 TDs and ran for 24 more on 3 carries.

LONG BEACH – Alex Aispuro was 22 of 39 for 311 yards and 2 TDs while BAKERSFIELD QB, Thomas Peregrin, went 12 of 16 for 245 yards and an 89-yard TD completion that put the Renegades ahead for good.

BUTLER COUNTY – Zac Taylor, a 6-2, 200-pound Wake Forest transfer, hit on 18 of 21 passes for 277 yards in the first half.  He went 15 of 20 for 254 and 3 scores in the opener.

SADDLEBACK - Fr. QB Colt Brennan, 6-3, 195, hit on 21 of 26 for 251 and 2 scores.

GROSSMONT – Returning starter Jarrod Jackson, 6-2, 210, went 20 of 31 for 241 and 3 scores, in a 24-3 win over Riverside.

RUNNING BACKS

SAN MATEO - RB Joe Griffin, 6-1, 196, carried 20 times for 210 yards and scores of 2-1-75, in 25-6 win over Chabot

SAN FRANCISCO – Sophomore RB Dallas Bernstine (Boise St. signee out of HS), 5-9, 190, had 21 carries for 201 yards, 3 TDs, and 3 catches for 53 yards vs Cabrillo.

L.A. VALLEY – Edric Primm, 5-8, 200, carried 24 times for 196 yards and caught a pair of passes in win over San Diego Mesa.

ROCHESTER – Lentrell Nealy, 5-11, 190, carried 16 times for 150 vs Northland (Minn.) and carried 11 times for 176 vs. Rainey River

VICTOR VALLEY – Sophomore RB/KR Ryan Gilbert, 5-6, 180, zipped for 172 yards on 27 carries and a score in 19-18 last-second loss to Citrus

N.E. OKLAHOMA – All-American RB Charles Elix, 5-11, 195, opened with 30 carries for 130 yards in loss to Coffeyville, then came back to become the first NEO RB to surpass 2,000 career yards rushing by gaining 108 for 3 scores in 35-7 win over Air Force Prep.  He gained 1,820 as a freshman.

CISCO – Gabriel Williams dashed for 192 yards and a TD on just 13 carries vs. Howard Payne JV

L.A. SOUTHWEST – 6-0, 245, pounded out 162 yards on 26 lugs vs. San Bernardino Valley.

ELLSWORTH - RB Walt Smith gained 158 yards on 20 carries and scored once in win over ND State.

CANYONS - RB Will Caldwell, 5-9, 215, had 8 carries for 145 yards and a 53-yard TD vs. Pasadena.

RECEIVERS

BAKERSFIELD - Jonathon Nunez caught 4 passes for 178 yards, including an 89-yard TD.

CHAFFEY - Rickey Moore made 7 catches for 169 yards vs. Cerritos.

SAN FRANCISCO - Maurice Purify, 6-5, 210, caught 6 passes for 158 yards with three going for TDs.

BUTLER COUNTY – WR Franz Hardy, 6-1, 175, had 2 catches vs. Trinity Valley, good for 46 and 80 yard TDs and came up with a pair of circus catches against Indy.

SADDLEBACK – Basketball player turned WR Jerard Rabb, 6-3, 200, caught 9 passes for 123 yards and 2 scores in 63-18 rout of LA Harbor.

SANTA BARBARA - Craig Neuvert caught 6 passes for 121 yards in last-second win over College of Desert.

DEFENSE

GARDEN CITY - DT Wayne Wilder had 13 tackles, a sack, 2 hurries and blocked a field goal vs. Dodge City.  He played for Georgia Military in 2002 and was out wit an injury at GC last year.

N.E. OKLAHOMA - LB Jon Radford, 6-1, 230, 11 solo, 2 assists, 2 tackles for losses vs. Coffeyville.

TYLER – Freshman DT Corey Roberts, 5-10, 295, had 8 tackles, 3 sacks, caused 2 fumbles in a 13-7 win over Navarro.

KILGORE – Freshman DB Ronnie Powell 5-11, 190, had a pair of INTs, getting 65 yards in returns vs. Georgia Military in 16-7 winning effort.

SOUTHWESTERN – Frosh DL Mundrae Clifton had an interception, sack, 2 QB hurries and 5 tackles in loss to Santa Monica.

MERCED - DE Davell Lauder, 6-3, 235, made 2 sacks, had a fumble recovery and caused a fumble that was returned 50 yards for a TD

L.A. VALLEY - DB Geoff Tisdale, 6-1, 170, made 2 picks, had a fumble recovery, & 2 pass break ups.

L.A. SOUTHWEST - LB Joe Artis, 6-2, 225, made 7 solo stops, had an assist, and 3 hurries.

RIVERSIDE - LB Randall Smith, 5-11, 230, made 16 tackles (12 solo) and 1 for a loss.

EL CAMINO – Defensive ends Delvondre Gardner, 6-3, 285, had 3 sacks, 4 hurries, 5 tackles and partner Rick Talanoa, 6-3, 275, registered 3 sacks, recovered a fumble and returned it 17 yards for a TD, had a safety, and a pass deflection.

FULLERTON – Frosh LB Dillon Bedard, 6-1, 145, made 10 tackles (2 solo, 2 for losses) and a sack in win over Compton.

MT. SAN ANTONIO – Freshman RB Brandon Smith, 5-7, 165, blocked 2 punts and returned both for TDs and ran for another TD on offense.

ORANGE COAST - LB Joe Mitchell, 6-1, 225, had 13 tackles, 8 solo, 1 for a loss and a sack in loss to Glendale.

OTHERS

INDEPENDENCE - Placekicker Dusty Sorenson kicked a 35-yard field goal in OT to give new coach Dave Ward his 1st win.

HUTCHINSON - Placekicker Kevin Coleman toed 26-, 30- and 43-yard field goals in first week win over Indy.

SADDLEBACK - Fr. Kicker Derik Martinez, set a new single-game mark by kicking 9 PATs.  Previous record was 7.

PASADENA - Ryan Weigand, 6-2, 190, had 7 punts for 41.4 avg., 3 inside of 20.

GOLDEN WEST - WR Steven Yaden, 6-0, 210, caught 8 passes for 66 yards, threw a 24-yard TD pass and punted twice inside the West LA 10 yard line.
