Northeast Football Conference Preview

Only nine years old, the Northeast Football Conference continues to improve on the field. Talented high school players from Florida to Maine have taken notice and now fill up NFC rosters. The rest of the nation is starting to recognize the east as well. Two teams finished the 2004 season ranked in the final poll, and three colleges are ranked among the top-25 in the pre-season NJCAA poll this season.

Hudson Valley, last year's conference champion, is ranked 19th. Erie is No.21 and Nassau, the league's third place team in 2004, is ranked among the NJCAA's elite teams at No. 6.

Raji El-Amin, a 3rd team AP Division II All-American at Edinboro in 2003, leads the class of newcomers to the Alfred State program.  Head Coach Mick Caba looks for great contributions from cornerback Matt Stewart, running back Jamie Luckett, and quarterback Chad Smith.

Overview

Under head coach Terry Dow, Morrisville State will look to its experienced returning class to vy for the conference title this season. Morrisville returns several starters to its roster, including five pre-season All-Americans, who saw action in all games last season.  The secondary should be solid as three return to the starting line-up again in the fall. This season will mark the final season of NJCAA competition for the Mustangs as they make the transition to the NCAA next fall. All returning players and freshmen entering the Morrisville football program this season will make a huge impact on the program for the next several years.
