Minnesota Players of the Week (9/14)

Every week during the season, the Minnesota Community College Conference (MCCC) announces its Players of the Week. The conference is split into two divisions, northern and southern, with POWs chosen for both. This week's honorees are listed as are those from the previous weeks.

 

2005 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Week 1

Northern Division

Offense – Robert Robinson, Running back, Hibbing

Robinson rushed 20 times for 184 yards and a touchdown verse  MSCTC-Fergus Falls.  He is a sophomore from Toombs County High School in Lyons, GA.

Defense – Adrian Moultrie, Safety, Rainy River

Moultrie made 18 tackles, including a sack, and also intercepted a pass with a 33 yard return.  He is a sophomore from Cincinnati, OH.

Southern Division

Offense – Wes Stettner, Quarterback, MSCTC-Fergus Falls

Stettner was 18 of 27 passing for 291 yards and two touchdowns in a 29-15 win over Hibbing.  He also rushed for two touchdowns.  Stettner is a sophomore from Hancock High School.

Defense – Tony Kley, Cornerback, Ridgewater

Kley made two interceptions, including one for a 85 yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter.  He also registered two solo and five assisted tackles.  Kley is a sophomore from Lester Prairie High School.

Week 2

Northern Division

Offense – Calvin Tolliver, Quarterback, Northland

Tolliver entered the game in the middle of the second quarter and was 7 of 10 passing for 160 yards and also rushed for 31 yards and two touchdowns.  He is a freshman from North Spring High School in Atlanta, GA.

Defense – Chris Lee, Free Safety, Northland

Lee recorded six solo, three assisted tackles, and two pass break-ups.  In addition, he intercepted a pass and blocked a punt.  He is a freshman from Soldom High School in St. Louis, MO.

Southern Division

Offense – Brian Post, Quarterback, Rochester

Post completed 15 of 24 passes for 143 yards in a 13-12 win over Mesabi Range.  He is a sophomore from Irondale High School.

Defense – Justiss Scales, Linebacker, Minnesota West

Scales made five solo and five assisted tackles, in addition to a key 70 yard interception return for a touchdown as Minnesota West defeated NDSCS, 28-13.  Scales is a sophomore from Beechcroft High School in Colubus, OH.

Week 3

Northern Division

Offense – Deonte Lewis, Running back, Northland

Lewis rushed 18 times for 103 yards and two touchdowns in a 32-27 win over Ridgewater.  He is a freshman from Bradley Tech High School in Milwaukee, WI.

Defense – Steven Honore, Linebacker, Vermilion

Honore made three solo and six assisted tackles, in addition to three QB sacks.  He is a freshman from Pointe Coupee Central High School in New Roads, LA.

Southern Division

Offense – Shawn Thissen, Wide Receiver, Ridgewater

Thissen made eight receptions for 211 yards and two touchdowns.  He is a first year player from MACCRAY High School.

Defense – Regis Richardson, Cornerback, Minnesota West

Richardson intercepted three passes, one returned for a 57 yard touchdown, and also recorded three pass break-ups.  He is a sophomore from Miami, FL.
