Yuba Linebacker Mike Reed

Yuba College inside linebacker, Mike Reed, committed to Oklahoma over the weekend. Reed played his high school ball at Vero Beach HS in Florida, then made his way to Reedley College in central California in 2003. He did not play or start his D1 clock there, however.

Reed transferred to Yuba College in Sacramento area and redshirted in 2004. Last season he opened more than a few eyes in somewhat limited action at Yuba.

"He played in only six games last year before getting dinged up. He made all-league despite only playing in three league games," said Yuba assistant coach Tomas Rodriguez. "He's big, physical and runs really, really well. He just blows people up."

According to Rodriguez, Reed committed to Oklahoma over a host of other schools that were showing heavy interest after viewing tape this spring. Fresno State, BYU, Auburn, and other programs were calling. Reed reportedly almost went to Auburn out of high school but was not a qualifier.

If all goes according to plan, Reed will graduate from Yuba next December.
