CCSF #1 In Official State Poll

SAN MATEO (Sept. 4, 2006) -- The state's two longest win streaks have ended. And City College of San Francisco is back in a familiar position in the official California Community College Football Coaches Association state ratings, as compiled by the JC Athletic Bureau.

Defending state champ Grossmont had its skein stopped at 12 games at Mt. San Antonio, 13-10, last week.  Canyons, which had been the last team to defeat Grossmont, saw its remarkable 38-game regular season streak derailed against Chaffey, 29-23.

State runner-up CCSF has moved up a spot from the preseason poll to replace Grossmont as No. 1, followed by El Camino, Reedley, Bakersfield, and San Mateo.  Reedley now has the state's longest regular season streak, 12 games.  No. 2 El Camino has 11 – and visits No. 7 Canyons Saturday...

Grossmont fell to 15th and Canyons dropped from third to 13th in the poll.  They meet Saturday in El Cajon.  Other top SouCal games Saturday: No. 4 Bakersfield at No. 11 Saddleback, No.9 Mt. San Antonio at Citrus, No. 10 Long Beach at No. 23 Moorpark. In the north: CCSF is at Cabrillo, Chabot at No. 5 San Mateo.   No. 6 Sequoias ventures out of state to Eastern Arizona and No. 21 Sacramento goes to No. 17 Sierra
