Mission Conference Players of the Week (9/11)

Congratulations to this week's Mission Conference Players of the Week. This weekly report also includes top individual performers from most teams in the conference.

Week 2 – 9.11.06

Palomar College quarterback Tyler Lorenzen, El Camino College linebacker Vuna Tuihalamaka, and Saddleback College punter Tim Grasso have been named Week 2 Mission Football Conference Players of the Week for their performances on the field.

Lorenzen (QB, 6-5, 220, So.,Eddyville, IA / Eddyville, Blakesburg HS/Iowa St.) beat out two other MFC quarterbacks with impressive nights to earn offensive player of the week honors. Lorenzen posted 403 yards of total offense while scoring 6 touchdowns in Palomar's 55-21 win at L.A. Harbor. He compiled 267 yards passing (20-32-1) with 4 TDs and ran for 136 yards and 2 TDs (one for 70 yds).

Tuihalamaka (LB, 6-0, 225, So., Hawthorne HS) was a force in El Camino's 25-20 win over Chaffey. He totaled 10 tackles (1 tackle for loss), 2 big hits, and 1 sack. He also caused fumble, recovered a fumble and ran it back 32 yards for a touchdown on his way to defensive player of the week honors.

Grasso (P, 6-0, 200, So., Kaysville, UT/Davis HS) is named special teams player of the week after totaling 176 yards on four punts, averaging 44.0 yards in Saddleback's 48-21 win against Bakersfield. One of his kicks was a season-long 58-yarder.

David Pittman, QB, 5-11, 189, Fr, Brookwood HS (Snellville, GA) - Became only the second Lancer QB in 82 years to pass for 400 yards in a game. He set the PCC record for highest completion percentage, .789 and tied
the record for most completions with 30. . 30-for-38 overall for exactly 400 yards, 3 TDs. His 26-yard TD throw to Jonathan Clayton with 57 seconds left gave PCC the win over Santa Barbara. He finished 33 yards shy of the single-game passing yards record of 433 set by Luke Sniewski in 2003.

David Reed, WR, 6'1, 180, Fr., New London (CT) - For second straight week he scored two touchdowns, pulling in receptions of 10 and 21 yards from Pittman. He finished with five catches for 96 yards.

Robert Maxie, WR, 6'0, 175, Fr., Marshall Fundamental (Pasadena) - 4 receptions for 103 yards

Matt Edwards, RB, 5'10, 215, Fr, Palo Verde (Las Vegas, NV) - Rushed for a pair of TDs and had 14 carries for 77 yards.

Roland Foumai, DE, 6'3, 245, Fr., Aiea (HI) - 9 tackles, 1 sack, 3 QB hurries

Latu Tupou, C/K 6'0, 315, Fr., Kahuku (HI) - The big Hawaiian was pressed into placekicking duties and nailed two extra points as a straight-footer and also booted the game's opening kickoff. He is the team's regular center.

Richard Murrell (RB, 6-0, 240, So, San Bernardino/San Bernardino, CA) - 10 carries for 69 yards and 2 TDs

Daniel Millus (QB, 6-0, 215, So, Upland/Upland, CA) - Ran for 1 TD and passed for another as he went 14 of 19 for 132 yards and no interceptions.

Deylan Marrow (LB, 6-0, 230, So, North/Riverside, CA) - 4 solo tackles, 6 assists and an INT, which he returned 32 yards.

Nick Nelson, QB, 6'2, 230, So, Trabuco Canyon/Tesoro HS  --  14-of-19 for 210 yards and 3 TD's.  Also ran for 2 TD's.

Rico Russo, PR, 6'0, 185, Fr, Granite Bay, CA/Granite Bay HS – Had 3 punt returns for 79 yards, including a 49-yard return.  Also added 3 tackles on defense.
