Here's the weekly rundown of top performances from around the country. How about Scottsdale RB Donald Askew, 5-11, 180, who ran for 158 yards and a TD in a 21-14 win over Eastern Arizona?(photo left)

CANYONS Fr. QB Andrew Miramontes, 6-2, 205, 23 of 33 for 411 yards and 6 TDs and ran for 36 yards and another score in 48-29 victory over L.A. Valley.

RIVERSIDE RB Richard Murrell, 6-0, 240, pounded out 283 yards and tallied 3 times to go over the 1,000 yard mark.  He led a Tigers attack that racked up 621 yards and his scoring runs were 2, 42 and 50 yards.

FRESNO RB Xavier Hobbs, 16 rushes for 142 yards TDs of 4 and 67 yards and RB Derrick Hallback, 5-10, 185, 13 for 116 (4, 13). 

SAN FRANCISCO QB Zach Lee, 6-2, 210, went 22 of 36 for 287 and WR Kenny O'Neal, 6-0, 200, caught 9 for 121 in 29-12 win over Butte.

SANTA ROSA Fr. QB Greg Alexander, 6-5, 240, was 40 of 54 for 495 and 7 TDs, broke school record for completions and tied Kevin Ballatore's 7 TD passes in 2004 game vs. yep, San Mateo.  Fr. RB Marty Ponzo caught 13 for 165-1 and rushed 7 for 54, and D.J. Sexton 10 for 143 with scoring catches of 4, 9 and 23 yards.  DL Steve Stutsman, 6-3, 240, 2 QB Sacks breaking school record with 18.5.

SIERRA Fr. QB Kevin Will, 6-0, 185, 13 of 28 for 271, 2 TDs vs. Sequoias.  Cory Jackson caught 4 for 123-1

SCOTTSDALE RB, Donald Askew, 5-11, 180, ran for 158 yards and a TD in 21-14 win over Eastern Arizona.

ARIZONA WESTERN DE whiz Luis Vasquez, 6-3, 260, who some think will be playing on Sundays one day, had 8 tackles, 3 sacks, forced and recovered a fumble in 24-17 loss to Phoenix.

GLENDALE return specialist Jermaine Clemons kept the Gauchos in good field position averaging 16-yards per punt return vs. Pima.  (He has 12 for 20.3 avg.)

SANTA BARBARA QB Marcus Rush, 6-5, 195, carried 27 times for 128 yards, 1 TD and was 11 of 16 for 171 and 2, including a 9-yarder with 54 seconds to play, and then hit a 2-pt PAT for 29-28 win over Ventura.

BAKERSFIELD RB J.R. Rogers, 6-1, 190, ripped off 187 yards and an 85-yard TD in 21 carries.

LA SOUTHWEST S Robert Johnson, 6-4, 190, 9 tackles, 1 INT, a fumble recovery and 2 PBUs in 16-8 win over Harbor.  BAKERSFIELD LB Curtis Cornelson, 6-2, 235, 9 tackles and a sack and helped hold Hancock to 131 yards rushing and 0 TDs.   GLENDALE, Ca. LB Alonzo Menifield, 6-0, 195, (a lad from a tough home life and foster homes, who has become an overachiever) had 9 tackles, a pick, 2 PBUs in 42-0 blanking of East L.A.

BUTLER QB Paul Eck was 11 of 21 for 151 and 3 TDs and Brandon Barnett 16 for 121 and Beau Johnson 18 for 99, in title-clinching effort vs. Fort Scott.

SANTA ANA WR David Richmond, 6-4, 200, caught 9 balls for 114 yds and 2 TDs, (giving him 54 for 842-9) in 4 OT win over Cerritos. QB Casey Peters went 25 of 35 for 261 and 4 TDs and RB Brian Allen, 5-8, 180, gained 188 yards on 34 carries for 3 TDs, including the game winner.  LB Eric Peevey, 6-1, 230 had 13 tackles, 4 solos.

PASADENA's David Pittman, 5-11, 189, set Lancer school records with 2,703 yards and a .666  completion percentage, plus most attempts and completions, 380 and 253.  He was 24 of 42 for 239, 3 TDs and ran for 40 despite 5 sacks, vs. Riverside.  Fr. LB Jason Scott, 6-1, 205, made 11 tackles and led team with 74 on the season.

PALOMAR QB Tyler Lorenzen, 6-5, 220, 12 rushes for 121-2 (85 and 2) and was 12 of 18 for 185 and SS Derrick McMahan, 6-0, 195, 5 tackles, forced and recovered a fumble and 31-yd INT.

LONG BEACH CB Ryan Howard, 5-9, 165, 7 total tackles, 4 solo, 1 TFL and 2 PBUs.

MT. SAN ANTONIO RB Antonio Williams, 5-11, 195, 22 carries for 149 yards and 2 TDs, DE Paul Unga, 6-3, 240, 4 tackles, .5 sacks and 2 hurries and DE Elia Le'au, 6-5, 235, 5 tackles, a sack and a hurry.  WR Travis Lee, 5-9, 165, 4 catches for 145-1.

SOUTHWESTERN DB Travis Crawford, 5-11, 180, one of the best in the U.S., had 3 INTs, giving him 9, and 3 PBUs and 4 tackles in 36-22 win over San Bernardino. Punter Jeff Ruiz 8 for 42.5 average.

GROSSMONT CB Terry Mixon, 6-2, 210, 7 tackles, a sack, helped hold Mesa to 33 yards total offense.  QB John Solis, 6-1, 169, 19 of 36 for 241 and 2 TDs.

SAN BERNARDINO QB Brad Sorensen 6-4, 210, 33 of 63 for 417 yds and 3 TDs and had 10 passes dropped at least.  Fr. WR Sylvester Burel, 6-3, 205, caught 9 for 108.

SADDLEBACK's P.T. Gates, 5-11, 195, gained 236 yards and scored 3 times in 26 efforts in crucial 42-37 win over El Camino.  He finished wth 1,059 yards and 16 TDs.  LB Brad Rife, 6-2, 230, was all over the field making 12 tackles, 8 solo and CB Earl Wilson, 6-1, 195, had 3 tackles, 2 PBUs and an INT which he returned 40 yards to the ECC 19-yard line to set up the final score.  With the clock ticking down and the Warriors driving under the direction of Fr. QB Boo Jackson, linebacker, 6-2, 225,  picked off a pass and returned it to the ECC 2-yard line ending the game.  Jackson, 6-2, 190, dazzled with 18 of 28 for 336 yards, 3 TDs, but also 3 picks from the alert SCC defense.  Fr. receiver Corey Surrency, 6-4, 205, grabbed 5 passes for 117 yards and a 17-yard score.
