2002 Waldorf College Preview

The Iowa Community College Athletic Association provides JCFootball.com with a team-by-team look at the conference. Last year's champs, North Iowa Area, lost a lot of talented players on defense but always find their way to a bowl. North Dakota State CS is coming off a down year and will try to rebound with a new coach and one of the nation's most productive tailbacks, Terrance Freeney. Here's a rundown of Waldorf CC that wasn't included with the earlier preview.

Warriors At A Glance

2001: 3-8 Overall; 2-6 ICCAC (4th)

Coach: Dave Bolstorff-At Waldorf College, 182-138, 34th year

Returning Starters: 8; 4 Offensive, 4 Defensive

Returning Players on Offense: Coach Bolstorff enters his 34th season with 4 returning starters on offense led by Pre-Season All - American offensive lineman Kody Wendt.  Offensive Lineman Ben Hogan, wide receiver Scott Gaskill and running back/wide receiver Nathan Wood are also returning to the Warriors offense.

Returning Players on Defense: The defense will be anchored by sophomore defensive back Gary Eichenberger who led the conference in interceptions last season with five.  Also, returning is defensive lineman Andy Tesdale who averaged four tackles per game and defensive lineman Cody Miner.  Corey Goodhue will be back at linebacker.  Goodhue was third on the team in tackles last season with 53.

Players to Watch: OL Kody Wendt, DB Gary Eichenberger, and LB Corey Goodhue

Overview: The Warriors are returning a solid group of players on both sides of the ball led by OL Kody Wendt.  However if they expected to compete for the conference championship they are going to have to fill in some question marks with young players.
