Hawaii reels in another top JUCO defender

JC recruiting has been very good to Hawaii this season. Earlier this week they picked up a commit from one of the top JUCO defensive ends in the country and today, following his visit to the islands, Blinn CB Ryan Mouton (5-10, 185) also made his pledge to the Warriors.

"I actually committed while we were waiting at the airport," Mouton told JCFootball.com. "I was with coach (Jeff) Reinbold and we were waiting and I just told him that I was ready to commit to them.

"He was really happy and he said I made the right choice and that he's excited to get me to play there."

Mouton is a player that can play both physical corner or be a zone guy, but like all corner, he loves to play one style more than the other.

"I can sit back and have at your, but I really like playing the 'in-your-face' style," Mouton said. "This year I really worked hard on my footwork to get better and work on breaking on the ball faster."

Mouton was an All-American cornerback for Blinn, helping to lead them to a perfect 12-0 season and the JC National Championship. He sees some of the same attributes among his new teammates that he saw in his JC team.

"They work hard there," Mouton said. "They were so welcoming to me and just showed me that they can do whatever they put their minds out there because they work so hard. They want to go to a BCS game next year and I want to help them do that.

"Their mindset is so contagious out there. They want to win and I think they have the staff and the players to do that."

Mouton will finish his degree up in May and said he will have three years to play two once he arrives on campus.
