Itawamba Preview

Itawamba Community College typically produce a handful of talented prospects and the 2007 Indians squad is no different. Head coach Jeff Terrill took the time to chat with JCFootball.com about some of the top talent they have on their roster including First Team pre-season Gridwire All-American QB Tyson Lee.

QB Tyson Lee "He's an excellent player. He's 6-0, 195 and just a playmaker in every way. He's a preseason All-American and last year as a freshman, he basically was in the top five of every quarterback category in the entire nation last year.

"His size is the reason that he doesn't have a bunch of offers right now. The one school I know for a fact that really likes him a lot and has talked to him is Kansas State and I know there are several more who like him too, but it just depends on what a team is looking for.

"We love his playmaking ability and the fact that he's just got great football smarts."

RB Bubba Taylor "He's a 5-11, 190 pound running back and he's a 4.4 guy who can run inside or outside. He redshirted last year, so no one has really seen what he can do on the field yet, but he's a very talented player and runner.

"Since he redshirted last year, he'll have three to play three when he leaves here after this season."

WR/DB G.A. Griffin "He'll play a lot of different positions for us. He's 6-1, 195 and he runs a 4.5 in the forty so he can just be a threat almost anywhere.

"He's going to start at safety for us and then we'll also use him as a receiver and a kick returner as well. He's just an exciting athlete and he can excel anywhere on the field that you put him pretty much. He's a big play just waiting to happen."

OL Gabe Hollivay "He's 6-3, 320 and he'll be at guard for us. He's got great feet and he's really strong. We expect him to be solid for us up front and to be a good prospect this year."

CB James Reynolds "James is a big and tough cornerback. He's 6-1, 195 and he runs really well (4.5). He's a returning starter and he's already being heavily recruited by a lot of schools. He can play corner or safety at the next level, but when you have the size he has and you can run like he does, teams will probably be looking at him as a corner first."

LB Quinton Pierre "He's 6-1, 215 and he runs really, really well. He put up a 4.5 this year in spring camp so he can really fly for an outside linebacker. He played safety for us last year and we moved him down this spring and he really took to the change. Kentucky is the one school that's really on him right now, but he's going to be a popular player this year for a lot of schools once they see what he can do."

DE/LB Norvell Jones "He'll play some linebacker for us in our 3-4 sets and he'll be our MIK, but in other sets we'll line him up at defensive end and just let him rush the quarterback. He's so strong and so quick for a guy his size. We love his ability to make plays and be a force for us on defense.

"He runs a 4.6 at 6-3, 230 and just gets after it. He loves to play the game. He signed with Florida State out of high school, so you know that he's got immense talent to work with."
