The first edition of the 2007 NJCAA Football Player of the Week awards were announced on Wednesday, September 4. Rochester Community and Technical College (Minn.) running back Isaac Odim earned Offensive Player of the Week honors, Alfred State College (N.Y.) cornerback John Chisolm received Defensive Player of the Week, while John Rachuna was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Isaac Odim, Rochester Community & Technical College (Minn.)
Running back; Rochester, Minn. / Century High School
Odim helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a 28-6 win over Rainy River Community College (Minn.) on Sept. 1 by racking up 227 all-purpose yards. The Rochester native had a game-high 203 yards rushing on 18 carries with two touchdowns, including a 93-yard run for six points. Odim also returned a kickoff 21 yards and had a pass reception for 3 yards. In two games this season he has rushed for 301 yards on 38 attempts (7.9 yards per rush / 150.5 yards a game) and three scores, which currently ranks fourth in the NJCAA.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
John Chisolm, Alfred State College (N.Y.)
Cornerback; Trenton, N.J. / Burlington High School
Chrisolm set a new Alfred State College record by intercepting four passes in the Pioneers' 21-22 loss to Stevens Tech College (non-NJCAA school) on Sept. 1. Chisolm, in his first start on defense after playing wide receiver as a freshman, picked-off a pass in the first quarter and third quarter, and intercepted two passes in the fourth quarter. He finished the day with seven tackles (4 solo & 3 assists) and eight pass break-ups.
SPECIAL TEAM PLAYER OF THE WEEK
John Rachuna, Erie Community College (N.Y.)
Punter, Frewsburg, N.Y.
Rachuna helped lead Erie to a 14-13 win over Harmony Community School (non-NJCAA school) by averaging 49.8 yards a punt, which breaks his own school record he set last season. His longest punt of the day was a 61-yard boot that pinned Harmony inside their own 10-yard line. Rachuna also connected on the game-deciding PAT with 2:30 remaining in the game.
MISSISSIPPI PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Offense: Jones County tailback Jasper Ducksworth (18 rushes for 109 yards and 4 TD)
Defense: Pearl River linebacker Brent Acker (10 total tackles, 2 interceptions)

Offense: Ovie Esalomi, New Mexico Military, RB - NMMI'S Ovie Esalomi is the WSFL Offensive Player of the Week. Esalomi rushed for 211 yards on only six carries and scored two touchdowns as the Broncos beat Lea County 60-0.
Defense: Alex Matthews, Mesa, DL - Mesa's Alex Matthews is the WSFL Defensive Player of the Week. Matthews set a Mesa record by knocking down five passes as a defensive lineman. He also was in on seven tackles to help the T-birds beat Arizona Western 28-6.
Special Teams: Kevin Perez, New Mexico Military, PK - New Mexico Military's Kevin Perez is the WSFL Special Teams Player of the Week. Perez went 7-for-9 on extra points, hit a 52-yard field goal, and recoved a blocked PAT for a two point conversion in the Broncos 60-0 win.
NORTHEAST PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Offense: Bobby Ransom, Hudson Valley CC, RB - Ransom rushed for 101 yards on 22 carries in the Vikings 36-6 victory over Berean Institute. He also caught two passes for 17 yards on the day.

Defense: John Chisolm, Alfred State, DB - Chisolm broke a ASC single game record with four interceptions in the Pioneers 22-21 loss to Stevens Tech. He also added seven tackles and eight pass break-ups.

Offense: Chad Peake, Fort Scott, WR - Peake (6-0, 185) caught five passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns including one for 92 yards against Navarro, Texas. He also had a kickoff return for 50 yards, to change important field position that lead to a game winning safety by the defense.
Eugene Smith, Garden City, QB - Smith (6-2, 200) completed 14 of 27 passing attempts for 225 yards and two touchdowns leading the #21 Broncbusters over Trinity Valley, Texas, 28-19.
Defense: JR Bryant, Garden City, LB - Bryant (6-3, 225) led the Broncbuster defense with eight tackles, 1.5 sacks and recovered a fumble against Trinity Valley, TX.
Defense: Melvin Williams, Coffeyville, DB - Williams (6-0, 200) had seven tackles against Highland. He returned an INT 74 yards for a TD in 4th quarter to put the game away.
MINNESOTA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Offense: Paul Bunkowske, Itasca, QB - Frosh Bunkowske completed 20 of 33 passes and threw a touchdown pass in leading the Vikings to a win over Central Lakes 22-20.
Henry Lau, Rochester, QB - Lau completed 20 of 30 passes for 224 yard and threw three touchdown passes in leading the Yellowjackets to a 35-18 win over Mesabi Range.
Defense: Jacoby Brandon, Northland, LB - Brandon totaled 12 tackles (9 solo) and also had a forced fumble leading to a safety to help the Pioneers to a 16-6 win over Minnesota West.
Eric Bergstrom, Ridgewater, LB - Frosh Bergstrom totaled 7 tackles (4 solo) and also had a fumble recovery and interception in helping lead the Warriors to a 24-18 win over Vermilion.
MIDWEST CONFERENCE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Anthony Stewart, Joliet, RB - Joliet Junior College squeaked by Harper College in week one of the Midwest Football Conference. Running Back Anthony Stewart provided the backbone for the victory after he rushed for 187 yards on just 23 carries. The 8.13 yards/carry was good enough to get him a touchdown. Stewart is a Sophomore out of Plainfield, IL. Joliet JC is not the only placed he has demonstrated success. In high school, he received All-
Conference honors and was also a Preseason 2nd Team All-American.
Lorenzo Brown, N. Iowa Area, QB - Lorenzo, originally from Bristol, CT, is a sophomore Quarterback for the North Iowa Area Community College Trojan football team. In last weeks 54-14 win against William Penn, Lorenzo completed 12 of 14 passes for 293 yards, had 0 INT and 3 TDS. He also had 4 rushes for 37 yards including 1 TD, all in just two quarters of play.
MISSION CONFERENCE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Mt. San Antonio College quarterback Kevin Craft, El Camino College free safety Chris Williams, and Cerritos College kick returner Davion Mauldin have been named Week 1 Mission Football Conference Players of the Week for their performances on the field.
Craft (QB, 6-5, 215, So., Valley Center HS) passed for 412 yards and four touchdowns in Mt. SAC’s big 62-17 win over visiting Victor Valley College to earn offensive player of the week honors. He completed 31 of 45 passes with no interceptions.
Williams (FS, 6’2, 200, So., Leuzinger HS) was all over the field in El Camino’s 56-13 win against Grossmont College. He totaled six tackles (four solo), intercepted a pass, had two pass deflections, and also forced a fumble on his way to defensive player of the week honors.
