Ross plans to visit Mississippi this weekend

One of the top JC backs this year is East Central RB Roosevelt Ross. He's a compact back with excellent vision and quickness and enough speed to take it to the house on any play. This weekend he plans to head to Oxford to watch the Ole Miss host the Florida Gators. He updated us on his season and what teams have made an early impression on him this month.

"Yeah I'm heading up to Mississippi this weekened to watch them play the Gators," Ross told JCFootball.com. "It should be a good game and Florida has really been coming on strong lately and they said they want to get some video of me soon so it will be good to check both of them out."

Ross' cell phone was lost and he's been unable to receive calls and said his coaches have told him several schools have inquired about his services.

"I have a lot of messages that I need to listen to on my voice mail," Ross said with a chuckle. "My coaches said a lot of schools want my film and that they are looking at me, but I'm not sure which ones those are. I will know pretty soon though and I'll start to figure out some things in the next couple weeks."

In three games so far this season, Barnes has 342 yards rushing on 44 carries -- a robust 7.7 yards per carry - and six touchdowns while helping lead East Central to a 2-1 record.

"It's been good so far, but I think our team can do better," Ross said. "We have a good team and we're talented, we just need to put it all together and just keep working hard."

This week East Central will play Southwest on Thursday (Sept. 20th).
