Desert amassed 171 yards on the ground against Victor Valley, while quarterback Brent Rausch (6-4, 190, Fr.) completed 19 of 29 passes for 268 yards, with no interceptions and 3 touchdowns. Edgard Theliar, Jr. (6-3, 185, Fr.) led all receivers with 7 catches for 141 yards (63 longest) and 3 touchdowns for the Roadrunners, and Undre Sails (5-9, 195 So) led all rushers with 140 net yards (19 longest) and two rushing touch downs.
Victor Valley ran a good ground game, led by Isaac Newton (5-9, 195), with 122 of the 167-yard Ram rushing total on 31 carries, and the first of 2 Ram rushing TDs. But the Desert pass defense limited VVC to only 6 completions on 21 attempts for 121 yards and a single touch down, intercepting the Ram quarterback once and sacking him twice. Anthony Berry (5-11, 170) caught the TD pass, one of his 3 snags for 117 yards.
Penalties and turnovers were not a factor in the game, and special teams made little impression on either side of the ball, with both teams missing field goal attempts.
Desert leads the Foothill Conference in scoring offense, passing and total offense, while holding opponents to the third lowest average point totals on defense. The Roadrunners are one of only two undefeated Foothill Conference teams.
Desert next faces Southwestern College at home this weekend, 29 September, at 5 p.m.
NOTE: Believe it...the image up top is a roadrunner. Someone send me a better Desert logo! LOL
