Mack names top three and sets first visit

El Camino OL Cedric Mack (6-3, 340) has been one of the more sought-after JC offensive lineman since the spring and he's narrowed his list to three schools and has his first trip scheduled for next weekend. Read on to see how his season is going and where he expects to be this weekend for his first official visit.

"I'm down to Iowa State, South Florida and Oregon State," Mack told JCFootball.com recently. "I was hoping to get to OSU already, but things got rescheduled, so I'm going to set up another visit with them and I'm set for a visit to South Florida in December sometime, but I haven't firmed up that date yet.

"I will be at Iowa State this Friday though," Mack said. "Coach (Gene) Chizik and the other coaches seem real nice and I'm looking forward to checking them out."

All three schools have offered.

As far as his season is concerned, Mack said playing right guard this year, as opposed to playing tackle in 2006, has been a lot of fun.

"I'm not as passive at guard," Mack said. "You have to be a lot more aggressive at guard and I like getting out and hitting people.

"I worked really hard at my drive blocking this past summer and it's really paid off for me because I'm moving guys off the line pretty easily and my strength has really benefited me as well too."

El Camino is 5-1 and will take on Golden West this coming Friday (Mack will leave shortly after his game for Ames).

We'll have more from the El Camino big man in the coming weeks.
