Two visits set for Geathers

Feather River DE Jarvis Geathers (6-4, 235) has been having a great season and several teams have taken notice of his talent. JCFootball.com spoke to the talented pass-rusher and he updated us on recruiting and where it stands as well as how his season has been going.

"We're kind of struggling as a team right now, but I'm having a pretty good year individually," Geathers told JCFootball.com recently. "I have 39 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss.

"We don't really keep track of hurries, but I've got a bunch of those too."

Geathers wanted to get stronger this past offseason and worked out twice a day so he would be able to hold up against the run better than he did as a freshman in 2006.

"Those workouts really helped me a lot," Geathers said. "My hands are stronger and I can shed better and keep guys off of me. Stopping the run is about strength and technique and I've really been able to be better at that this year."

On the recruiting front, Geathers has four offers – UNLV, North Carolina State, Oklahoma State and Marshall – and three other schools have begun to increase their attention on him as well.

"Besides my offers Central Florida, Oregon State and Nevada have been coming on pretty strong lately, but none of them have offered yet," Geathers said. "Central Florida just started calling and said they liked my tape and that I'm exactly what they want in an outside pass-rusher."

Geathers has tentative visits set up with UNLV (December 7th) and Oklahoma State (December 14th) and said he wants to set one up for North Carolina State soon.

"I want to get those set up soon so that I can make my decision pretty quickly because I'm done in December," Geathers said. "I have some good choices right now, but I'd like to have more before I make my decision."

We'll continue to follow Geathers' progress over the next few weeks as recruiting really starts to heat up.
