Houser talks recruiting

A talented center is a must for any four-year program's offense to be successful and one of the best in the California JC ranks is Butte's Robb Houser (6-3, 285). He recently took an official visit to a Big 12 school and now two other BCS schools have told him they want him to visit them as well.

"I went to Baylor a couple of weeks ago for their game against Colorado," Houser told recently. "I had a lot of fun there and enjoyed myself a lot. Their facilities are top-notch and those fans down there love football.

"Even though their team is struggling a little bit, they are pretty into the game and the atmosphere was great."

In recent weeks, Houser has started to hear from Syracuse and Pittsburgh as well and both have intimated an offer and a trip could be in the offing in the near future.

"Both of those schools have started to come on strong these past couple weeks," Houser said. "Syracuse said they want an experienced guy to come in and play and Pitt told me they have some really young guys – I think they said a redshirt freshman and a true freshman – after their senior graduates this year so they told me I am their top center prospect which is pretty cool.

"I'm hoping to set up visits with both of them after our season is over with, but right now I can't really take a visit because we have games and then we're hoping to get into the playoffs and make a run at winning the state."

We'll continue to track Houser as he sets up his next two visits. This weekend he and his teammates will take on San Mateo at home.
