Ross gets first offer and sets up first visit

Talented backs are players that can come in and help a program right away. One of the more underrated players in the JC ranks this year has been East Central's Roosevelt Ross (5-9, 215) and he pulled in his first offer recently and he's set up a visit to that school while also getting looks from other top programs in the south and mid west as well.

"Troy just offered me about a week ago," Ross told recently. "They said they like my explosiveness and my vision and that I was a tough runner who didn't go down after first contact.

"I set up my visit to go see them on December 8th so that's my first one and I think a couple of other schools are getting close to offering me."

Among those other schools are Kansas State, Ole Miss, Auburn, Baylor, Florida and Mississippi State.

"All those schools have asked for my film and my transcripts," Ross said. "They all said they want a player to come in and make an impact right away so they're looking at me pretty hard right now."

Ross finished the year for East Central with 98 carries for 698 yards and eight touchdowns for a team that went 3-6 while playing several teams close.

"We struggled at times, but we fought hard and barely lost a couple of those games," Ross said. "My stats didn't matter as much as getting the wins and it was frustrating, but we played hard and fought all the way until the end because we could have given up, but we won our last game and that showed our heart."

Ross said since he graduates in December he'd like to make his decision sometime that month so he can sign and be available to enroll wherever he ends up in January and he'll have two years to play two.

We'll have more from Ross in the coming weeks.
