Recruiting begins to pick up for Jeune

A talented safety in the California JC football ranks this year has been Moorpark's Wiston Jeune (6-4, 205). He helped lead the Raiders to the playoffs and he's starting to see schools take a longer look at him now that his season is over.

"We had a good year and we upset El Camino so it was a good year for us," Jeune told JCFootball.com recently. "I had a good year individually. I averaged 11 tackles a game and I had four interceptions as well.

"My coaches told me I did exactly what they wanted me to do, now I just need to finish up school and hopefully some four-year schools will give me a shot at the next level."

For his efforts, Jeune was named Second Team All-WSC and some four-year schools have started to take a look at the athletically gifted safety.

"Texas Tech, Syracuse, Utah State, Oregon State and San Diego State have been the main ones contacting me and my coaches," Jeune said. "Tech called me on the phone the other week and said they were really interested in me and OSU just asked for tape so that's kind of where things stand for me.

"I don't have any offers yet and I probably won't take any visits until January because I don't finish up until June so that is why some schools are taking their time with me.

"I'm fine with that, but I want them to know I'm on track to finish and be able to play next fall."

Wherever Jeune ends up playing he'll have three years to play two.
