Williams gets close to a decision

Arizona Western DE Josh Williams (6-2, 260) was expected to have a big sophomore season, but, like the rest of his team, the promise of a great offseason didn't result in a big year. He's taken one trip and will be at another D-1 school this weekend and then hopes to make a decision where he'll play his final two years of college football.

"It just was not good all the way around," Williams told JCFootball.com. "I think that's why I haven't gotten more looks because I really didn't have that big of a year.

"We struggled to get wins and I really struggled because teams were doubling and tripling me and it took me a little while to learn how to handle that and when I finally did, that season was pretty much over." Williams still managed to finish with four sacks and 20 tackles from his end position.

"Backs and tight ends were chipping me almost every play," Williams said. "I finally learned how to position myself a little bit better and how to read the play a little more, but I didn't have a big season stats-wise so my coaches think I didn't get as many looks as I probably would have with a big year."

Even so, Williams has two offers to his name and he said he'll be making a decision in the next week or so.

"I went to Middle Tennessee State this past weekend and it was a lot of fun," Williams said. "I'm leaning pretty hard to them right now, but I will be taking a visit to Temple this weekend and then I will decide sometime next week.

"I loved my visit to Middle Tennessee. The schools is really cool, the people there are great and the coaches and I really were on the same wavelength and I think I could really fit in well there.

"I'm going to give Temple a look, but I'm thinking I will probably end up at Middle Tennessee in the end."

Williams will sign his letter of intent on December 19th and he'll have two years to play two wherever he ends up.
