Williams says yes to Utah State

On a team loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, El Camino S Chris Williams (6-2, 195) was a leader for the Warriors and he made a decision this past weekend on where he wants to play his D-1 ball. JCFootball.com caught up with Williams this past week and he talked about his commitment as well as how his season went.

"We had a good season," Williams said. "We didn't go as far as we wanted to go, but we did well and I had a lot of fun playing ball with this team."

Williams played free safety for the Warriors and he was responsible for getting the secondary lined up correctly.

"I played center field and made all the calls and adjustments for us," Williams said. "I really liked the responsibilities that the coaches put on me with getting us lined up correctly and making sure that we had things covered."

For the season, Williams ended up posting 44 tackles, one forced fumble, six passes broken up and two interceptions on his way to being named to the 1st Team All-Mission Conference.

"That's an honor because of all the talent and great players down here," Williams said. "I'll find out next week about All-State so I'm hopeful on that one too."

On the recruiting front, Williams had offers from Portland State and Utah State and he took a visit to check out the Aggies this past weekend.

"I really enjoyed myself there and the coaches were great guys," Williams said. "I just felt comfortable there and they need playmakers in their secondary and I think I can be that for them next year.

"I'm a big-hitter back there and I can go up and get the ball when that's called for too, but I love to be more of an enforcer and make receivers scared to come across the middle."

Williams will sign on December 19th with Utah State and he'll have three years to play two when he steps on campus.
