Is Brown close to a decision?

The last time we chatted with Southwestern DE Leonard Brown (6-4, 270) he was still waiting for his first offer, but this weekend he got some good news on an official visit to UTEP and he said he's close to making a decision on where he will continue his college football career.

"It was a great visit," an excited Brown told on Sunday night. "I had a lot of fun talking with the coaches and meeting all of the Price's -- Mike and his sons -- so it was just great all the way around.

"They have a great program they run down there and their facilities were nice and I liked the area that the school is in. It's all about football in Texas and that's what I'm all about and getting my education paid for in the process is going to be great too."

So did Brown make a commitment on his visit?

"No, but I was close," Brown said. "I've got a visit set up this coming weekend with Utah State, but I'm not sure if I'm going to take that or not.

"I'd say there is a 90-percent chance that I will commit to UTEP and I should know pretty soon what I'm going to do because I don't want to waste anyone's time and I want to sign on December 19th and that's coming up quickly."

Brown said the coaches like him as a strongside defensive end with the ability to move around to get the best matchup.

We'll continue to follow Brown's progress and update things as the change.
