Dawson makes his pledge to MAC school

It's been a while since JCFootball.com has gotten an update on El Camino S Hilton Dawson (6-1, 215) and this past weekend he took his first trip and got an offer. After thinking about things for a bit, he committed and he couldn't be happier about it.

"Oh I'm real excited," Dawson said. "I'm going to Ohio and it's going to be a great place for me.

"I met with the coaches, I love the city. It's a lot different than California, but in a good way. I've never been much further than California so this will be a new experience for me, but I loved how the town was all about the university and how they supported the players and the coaches so much.

"Also, meeting coach (Frank) Solich was just amazing because he's such a great coach and playing for him was just an opportunity I couldn't pass up."

Dawson chose Ohio over and offer from Ole Miss and heavy interest from Hawaii and Nebraska.

Dawson played for Cerritos last year and racked up 67 tackles and three interceptions as a starter there. This past season, after transferring to Elco, Dawson rotated at the strong safety position and posted solid numbers -- 30 tackles, two picks and one forced fumble.

Dawson will sign with Ohio on December 19th and he'll have three years to play two when he arrives on campus in January.
