UCF picks up a good one in Geathers

A very talented JC defensive end this past year was Feather River's Jarvis Geathers (6-4, 235) and he told JCFootball.com early last week that it was down to two schools for his services -- Middle Tennessee and Central Florida. He made his choice on Wednesday and he talked about that decision over the weekend and said he's happy to know where he'll spend the next two or three years.

"I committed to Central Florida on Wednesday and I sent in my letter to them," Geathers told JCFootball.com on Sunday evening. "I just felt their defense fit me the best and that their coaching staff would push me and put me in the right positions to be successful.

"They have a talented team and they have that running back who will make the defense's job that much easier by keeping us off the field."

Geathers had several offers to his name including Middle Tennessee, Marshall, North Carolina State, Oklahoma State and UNLV (where is older brother Jeremy is playing ball).

"All of those schools had good programs, but UCF just fits me better," Geathers said. "I loved my visit there and it just suits me better.

"The staff was really happy that I committed and they told me to be ready to come in and play right away."

Geathers signed his letter-of-intent this past Wednesday and will arrive on campus in January with three years to play two.
