Locust focuses on two schools

Teams love agile defensive lineman who can play inside or outside. One of the better combo linemen in the state of California's JUCO ranks the past two years has been Cerritos' Thomas Locust (6-3, 325) and after a second solid season he's focusing on two schools who want him to take a vist. JCFootball.com caught up with the big man from the Sunshine State and he updated us on things...

"I had a good year, but I think it could have been better," Locust told JCFootball.com. "I played inside most of the years, but the last few games they moved me out to end and that was fun too.

"I didn't get any post-season honors, but I got 40 tackles and three sacks and my coaches said I did what they were hoping I would do."

The two schools currently honed in on Locust are Nevada and North Carolina State. Neither have offered, but he said they have told him an offer could be received on his visit.

"I might be at Nevada on the 18th (of January), but I'm not 100-percent sure on that one yet," Locust said. "N.C. State is set and I will be there on January 25th.

"Both of them told me if I come out for a visit I'll probably get an offer while I'm on campus.

"I'd love to play for either school because I want to play D-1 ball, but right now that's about it for me as far as recruiting is concerned."

Locust will graduate in May and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.

We'll continue to track his progress and update things as we get closer to Letter-of-Intent day on February 6th.
