Diablo Valley wideout talks recruiting

Diablo Valley WR Ryan Gardner (6-1, 190) is a playmaker from his wideout position. He put up big numbers this past fall and he's got eight offers under his belt, but he's still waiting to make a decision. JCFootball.com caught up with Gardner recently and he talked about recruiting and what he does best on the football field.

"I'm not a possession guy," Gardner admitted when asked what type of receiver he is. "I'm a pure-playmaker and big-play receiver out there."

Gardner used his 4.3 speed to amass 29 receptions for 680 yards and six touchdowns this past fall and he said several programs have taken notice and offered him a full scholarship to play ball for them.

"Utah, Utah State, Fresno State, Colorado State, Akron, Portland State, Stonybrook and South Dakota have all offered me," Gardner said. "A couple of other schools have called and wanted to talk to me, but right now, those eight are the ones that have offered.

"I'm actually a soft-verbal to Akron, but I'm still waiting around to see who else comes and looks at me.

"Washington State is a school that's started to come on, but they just started calling and Colorado State wants me to take a visit this weekend."

Gardner will graduate in May and he'll have two years to play two once he arrives on campus.
