Tulsa nabs Halaholo

One of the top JC prospects still unsigned at this point has been San Mateo OT Tavita Halaholo (6-6, 320), but that isn't the case any more. After he took his official visit to Tulsa this past weekend, he came home, talked with his family and decided he wanted to be a Golden Hurricane.

"I just committed to them this afternoon," an excited Halaholo told JCFootball.com. "The coaches were excited and said they needed a guy like me to come in and challenge for time.

"My coaches at San Mateo have been real supportive and helped me a lot so they were excited for me as well."

Halaholo noted he was being brought in to play the left tackle position.

"The coaches (at Tulsa) liked my feet and said they need an athlete like me out there," Halaholo said. "I've been working hard on all of my stuff so I'll graduate in May and head out there right after I finish up my work here at San Mateo.

"Going to the middle of the country isn't that big of a deal. What will be the hardest thing to get used to is the temperature because it was warm during the day, but man, it was really cold at night. It's not that big of a deal though."

When Halaholo arrives on campus he'll have three years to play two.
