Esera likes to get after it

One of the top offensive lineman in the California JUCO ranks is current Victor Valley OG Elisara Esera (6-0, 300). He mauled defensive lineman all season as a member of the Pasadena College football team, but made the move to Victor Valley recently and he talked about the move as well as what he enjoys most about playing on the inside.

"I had fun there, but I felt like making a change," Esera told JCFootball.com when asked about his move. "I like the coaches and the players here and I think it is for the best that I came here."

Esera was a standout on Pasadena's line in 2007, posting quite a few pancakes and not allowing any sacks on his way to being named First Team All-Mission conference.

"I think I can pass and run block just as good as anybody," Esera said. "I like hitting more though. Inside, you get to hit more and be more aggressive and that's what football is all about."

On the recruiting front, Esera hasn't paid my attention to which schools are recruiting him, but he said he's hoping his home-state school will get into the mix.

"I went to Farrington High (in Honolulu, Hi.) so I'd love it if Hawaii offered me," Esera said. "I didn't have the grades out of high school, so I knew JC was the way to go.

"I'd love to go to UH because they were the school I grew up watching and loving, but right now I'm not really sure who is recruiting me."

Esera is on pace to graduate in May of 2009 and he said he will have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
