Lindsey loves the big play

When he gets the ball in his hands, Los Medanos WR Michael Lindsey (6-3, 205) is a player who can take it the distance from anywhere on the field. He's big, he's fast and he's already getting a lot of early recruiting attention. JCFootball.com caught up with Lindsey recently and he talked about recruiting as what sets him apart from other talented receivers.

Lindsey was a standout at Boca Ciega High School in St. Petersburg, Florida and was heavily recruited, but grades befell his move directly to the next level so he decided to follow some friends out to Los Medanos.

"I've had fun out here," Lindsey said. "It's different from where I'm from, but I like it a lot.

"We run a good offense and I'm used to it so it made the transition easy for me."

That was evident by the numbers that Lindsey put up as a freshman on his way to All-Conference honors -- 34 receptions for 776 yards and eight touchdowns.

"I'm big and I like to be physical, but I want to get stronger," Lindsey said. "I consider myself the total package at wide receiver.

"I can run by you or I can run a good route and get separation that way. I have good hands and I'm confident in my abilities to go up and get the ball."

On the recruiting front, Lindsey is already hearing from several schools, but one in particular has caught his eye.

"USC has been sending me stuff and they seem pretty interested," Lindsey noted. "They have all those Heisman's and they win and they have a great offense and great players. It would be an honor to play there.

"The other schools recruiting me right now are Tennessee, Oregon, Utah, West Virginia, Middle Tennessee and Sacramento State."

Lindsey said he is on pace to graduate in May of 2009 and that he'll have three years to play two following the 2008 season.
