Lindsey makes the call

It's still very early in the recruiting season, but Los Medanos WR Michael Lindsey (6-3, 205) decided early Wednesday to make a commitment to the school he thinks he will fit in the best. While he considers his commitment firm, he said he'll still take a look at some other schools as well.

"I just committed to Memphis," an excited Lindsey told "It's a big weight off my shoulders and they fit me perfectly.

"I was talking with Kevin (Williams) the other day and I told him I was really feeling Memphis and that I wanted to commit and then I told my family and they all thought it was a good idea."

Lindsey said he called the Memphis staff and they were very excited.

"I called (Justin Crouse) and he had Coach (Clay) Helton call me and when I told him, he was really excited," Lindsey said. "He likes my playmaking abilities and the type of receiver that I am and what I bring to the table.

"They run the spread and that fits me perfectly, so it's just a good fit all the way around for me."

Last year, Lindsey managed to put up 34 receptions for 776 yards and eight touchdowns while garnering All-Conference honors.

Even though he feels Memphis is where he will end up, he's still going to look at some other schools during the fall.

"I'm going to keep my eyes open to some other schools," Lindsey said. "USC, Cal, Utah State and West Virginia area schools I'm still interested in, but I'd say that Memphis is definitely in the driver's seat and it would take a lot for me not to end up going there."

Lindsey will finish his two-year degree in May of 2009 and he'll have three years to play two.
