TCU adds Tyler wideout to 2008 class

After a huge freshman season at Tyler, WR Alonzo Adams (6-0.5, 195) became a hot commodity with several four-year schools. One school however made him a priority to get him to play this fall and after some careful thought Adams signed with TCU two weeks ago and is already working out with his new teammates.

"I signed with TCU about two weeks ago," Adams told JCFootball.com after a recent workout. "They offered me about a month or a month-and-a-half ago and I visited there and signed my paperwork while I was there.

"It was a great situation for me. They throw the ball alot, it's close to home, but not too close and they needed me and I'll have four years to play three so it was a no-brainer for me."

In fact, the Horned Frogs had been on Adams for quite some time.

"Back in high school they were looking at me," Adams said. "They were the school I really liked a lot and it's a dream come true to play D-1 ball now.

"I signed on a Friday and they handed me some purple shorts and a purple t-shirt and on Monday I was working out with my teammates."

As a freshman at Tyler, Adams hauled in 40 receptions for over 800 yards and six touchdowns while being named 1st Team All-Conference for his efforts.

Schools like Rice, Houston, Baylor, Georgia and Oklahoma were all looking his way, but TCU is the school he stepped up and inked the talented receiver.
