Offers are rolling in for Evans

He was one of the top performers at the SoCal combine and he had a solid freshman campaign. L.A. Harbor DE DeQuin Evans (6-4, 248) has become a very popular prospect over the past couple months and he updated us on how his offseason has gone so far and where recruiting stands at this point and time.

"I just got offered by Washington State the other day," Evans told as he headed to a workout. "They sent the official offer in the mail the other day and they are a school that has been looking at me for a while, so it was cool to get an offer from them.

"LSU has offered me and Kansas State and Oregon have both offered me too. USC and Fresno State are looking at me pretty hard and SC said they liked what they saw of me and since I go up there and work out with my cousin Herschel Dennis, they know me up there pretty well."

Evans had an outstanding workout at SoCal combine in early May, posting a 4.85 forty time, 17 reps of 225 pounds on the bench and a cat-quick 4.1 short-shuttle time.

As a freshman for Harbor, Evans posted 33 tackles, 14.5 tackles-for-loss and five sacks and while those are solid numbers, he hopes the 2008 season is even better.

"Oh, I think I'm only getting started," Evans said. "I think I have a lot to improve on and that's what I'm focused on this summer. If you aren't getting better, you're getting worse, because everyone else out there is working to get better.

"I'm a hard worker, so I don't plan on anyone out-working me. I want to improve my moves, my strength and my overall speed. I'll get where I need to be."

Evans is on pace to graduate in May of 2009 and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
