Team Preview: Blinn College

Seemingly every year, Blinn College is at the top of the JC rankings and this year is no different. Helping them achieve this lofty perch are a plethora of talented prospects that are getting a lot of looks from some major D-1 programs. Defensive line coach Keith Browning updated us recently on the Buccaneers' outlook this season and he also previewed their top prospects as well...

"We have a ton of talent on offense so we should be really explosive this year," Browning told JCFootball.com recently. "Our receivers are loaded with speed and talent and we have some really good linemen that should help our quarterback and backs.

"Defensively, we have some studs up front and they have a chance to be dominant and then our linebackers just fly around and make plays.

"We think we have what it takes to be right up there all season at the top, but it's all about hard work and getting it done on the field when we have our chances."

Below is a quick look at Blinn's top prospects as well as some players to keep an eye on this fall...

QB Terrence Cain "Terrence was selected honorable mention NJCAA All-American last season. He is our leader on offense. He really understands the game and is a very, very accurate passer. He's getting early interest from Memphis, Tulsa, Houston, UTEP and Minnesota"

OT Marquise Franklin "He's a super-talented young man who is an ideal left or right tackle at the next level, with very good feet and very good size. He started every game for us last season and played outstandingly."

OT Greg Bulls "Greg played LT for last season and had a great season. Greg has a nasty streak and is a great athlete for an offensive lineman. He's got a great work ethic and he's very versatile and can play any position up front. He already has an offer from UAB."

OG Brian Krauskopf "Brian started every game last season at right guard. Brian is a beast in the weight room with 420 pound bench, 655 pound squat and 330 pound power clean. He's a guy who can play almost anywhere on the inside with his size (6-3, 290)."

TE Prizell Brown "He's got great size at 6-4, 250 and he's a great athlete that creates match up problems for defenses. He should really have a break out season. Prizell has early offers from Arizona, New Mexico, and UAB and he's receiving interest from Texas A&M, LSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Kansas State."

WR Justin Jordan "Justin is one of the hardest workers I've ever been around. Justin is a great playmaker from the slot, from the backfield or in the kicking game he can really go. He's great in the weight room as well with a 350 pound bench, 300 pound power clean, a 450 pound squat and he also runs a 4.4 forty.

"He's got early offers from Oklahoma, Kentucky, Cal, K-State, Arizona, Utah, UAB and New Mexico."

WR Travis Cobb "Travis redshirted last year and he is one of the fastest kids I've ever been around. We have timed Travis in the 4.3's numerous times. This kid has the ability to score any time he touches the ball. He has early offers from Utah, UAB, Ohio and Arizona."

DE Travis Stephens "Travis backed up First Team All-American Emmanuel Stephens last season and he had a great year. He finished with six sacks and he's great against the run. We expect him to have a breakout season. He's got an early offer from UAB getting attention from Kansas, Kansas State, Arkansas and Ok State."

DE/OLB Jarred Price "Basically Jarred is lighting in a bottle. The kid can go. Jarred has the fastest first step I've seen and he can flat out get to the quarterback. He had 12 sacks last season as a freshman. He's got early offers from Cal, Kentucky and Ohio."

DT Sean Warren "Sean is 6-0, 290 and he's the leader up front. He's got a great work ethic and an understanding of the game. He should be a dominant force in the middle and he'll be great against the run. He's got two early offers -- North Texas and UAB."

MLB Prentice Joseph - "For a big LB (6-0, 250) he can really run. He's a great competitor and he's equally good against the run and pass. He should have a big year."

OLB C.J. Parish "He's a gifted Athlete that can do it all. Last season he started games at defensive end, middle linebacker and on the outside. He's got a great work ethic and he's a great competitor.

"He's got everyone looking at him and he's already got an offer from New Mexico, with heavy interest from Kansas State, Oklahoma State, UTEP, Mississippi State, LSU and USC."

OLB Vernon Brooks "Vernon is a big hitter who loves to play the game. He's a vocal leader who should have a break out season."

S Byron Landor "He's a big safety (6-1, 210) who can run and hit. He had a great spring and he's got an outstanding work ethic and he loves to compete. Byron is our leader in the secondary and on special teams.

"He's getting interest from Kansas, Kansas State and LSU."

CB Terrance Sweeny "He's very athletic and he's super-fast. He moved from running back to corner this spring and he really did a great job. Terrence is 4.3 kid and will also be dangerous in the return game.

"Interest is already coming from Arizona, Kansas and UTEP among others."
