BOONEVILLE, MISS. –Mississippi Delta Community College defeated Northeast 35-0 in a Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges (MACJC) North Division game on Thursday, September 18 at Keenum Stadium.

The loss dropped the Tigers 0-4 overall and 0-2 in division play and advances Mississippi Delta to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in division play.

An 85-yard kick off return by Northeast’s Eric Knowlton put the Tigers on the board as time expired in the third quarter but the touchdown would not stand due to an illegal block in the back penalty on the Tigers.

One of the best drives of the night for the Tigers came late in the game when they drove 50 yards to the Trojans’ 17-yard line before turning the ball over on a fumble.

Quarterback Emanuel Francis threw four interceptions and committed a fumble in his efforts against the Trojans, as the Tigers seemed to be plagued by turnovers.

Defensively the Tigers put forth another strong effort even though they gave up 35 points to the Trojan offense who proved to be too much for Northeast to contain.

Northeast will look for their first win of the season when they travel to Holmes Community College next Thursday September 25.

The next home game is scheduled for Oct. 2 as Northeast hosts East Central for Homecoming ’08 in another MACJC North Division game match-up.
