Evans talks recruiting

One of the most popular JUCO defensive end prospects in the country this year is L.A. Harbor DE DeQuin Evans (6-3,255). With his size, speed and intensity, Evans already has several offers and a Big 12 school could see him on campus for a game in two weeks if things go as planned. Which school is he looking to visit? Read on to find out more...

Evans is already off to a fast start on the season, posting 14 tackles, two sacks and plenty of hurries in Harbor's first four games and he said things will pick up even more.

"We need to make more plays," Evans told JCFootball.com Sunday evening. "We're 1-3, so we need to make some big plays and a sack or pressure on the QB can do that for us on defense.

"I need to play better, we all need to play better and we expect more of ourselves, so we're just working harder and getting ready to do what we have to do."

On the recruiting front, Evans has offers from schools across the country and he could be at one of those schools soon on an official visit.

"Nebraska has been trying to get me to visit and I think I'm going to go out there during our bye week (October 11th)," Evans said. "They have a tough and an aggressive defense, so that's appealing and they are playing really well right now, so they are definitely a school I'm focusing on pretty hard."

Other than the Nebraska offer, Evans has written offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Oregon, Washington State and Arizona State, he's got a verbal offer from LSU and he's receiving heavy interest from USC as well.

"SC came out to see our practice on Friday and they set up a visit for next Sunday (October 5th) with me and my family," Evans said. "Other than that, I'm not really sure when my other visits will be. I might go on some during my season, but most likely I will take them in December."

Evans is on pace to graduate in February so that he can enroll wherever he ends up for spring football and he will have three years to play two following the season.

This weekend, Harbor takes on Southwestern at home.
