Pierre-Paul narrows things down

After having an All-American season as a freshman at College of the Canyons, current Fort Scott DE Jason Pierre-Paul (6-6, 270) had plenty of suitors come knocking on his door over the summer. Now a sophomore, the gifted defender has gotten off to a huge start for a team that is currently 5-0 and he's getting close to setting up two more official visits in the very near future.

As a freshman at Canyons, Pierre-Paul amassed 49 tackles, 14 sacks, an amazing 19 tackles-for-loss, one interception, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery and he's off to a great start already for the Greyhounds.

"I have over 25 tackles and I have eight sacks," Pierre-Paul told JCFootball.com. "It's been a good year so far, but we have Dodge City this weekend and we just need to keep it going."

On the recruiting front, Pierre-Paul has already visited Nebraska and he said he enjoyed his time in Lincoln.

"That place was alright," Pierre-Paul said. "They treated me well there and they have an aggressive defense. The coaches there are new, but they have a good base of players to work with and I really liked the academic support they give to their players."

With the Cornhusker visit out of his way, Pierre-Paul said he plans to set up at least two more before he decides.

"South Florida and LSU are the ones I'm closest to setting up visits with," Pierre-Paul said. "I probably won't do it until my season is over, but I'm not really sure right now."

Other schools that have offered and under consideration are Florida, Florida State, UCF, Florida International, Auburn and Virginia Tech among others.

Pierre-Paul will graduate in May and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
