Butte sackmaster talks recruiting

Butte DE Brandon Rankin (6-5, 250) is having an outstanding season for the Roadrunners and he's getting reading to set up his first official visit to a school that has been on him for quite some time. However, he's also got plenty to worry about as Butte will take on Reedley this weekend in the Nor Cal Championship game this weekend.

"Thing have been going great, we're undefeated and I'm bringing down lots of sacks and tackles for loss," Rankin told JCFootball.com. "I've got 21.5 sacks, I had seven last week against Foothill, and I have 18 tackles-for-loss and about 49 tackles, so it's been good for me and I think I've helped us win some games."

Rankin has used his prototypical size and speed (4.6) to get after the quarterback and schools from across the country have taken notice.

"North Carolina State has offered me and I'm pretty sure that Washington State has offered me," Rankin said. "They've been on me for a while and they said they like what I could bring to their program.

"I'm probably going to set up a visit with them pretty soon, but I can't go until after my season is over so it might not be until the second week of December."

In addition to the two schools who have offered, Rankin is also hearing from Louisville and California among others.

Rankin will graduate in May and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
