Ball sets trip to MAC school

Arizona Western's season is complete, but CB Deonte Ball (6-0, 190) is still a busy young man. He's being pursued by a couple of MAC programs at the moment and he's already set up a visit with one of those schools. caught up with Ball and he updated us on how his sophomore season went and where things stand in recruiting at this point...

"Things went good, we had a good season, but I think we could have been better," Ball told "We went 5-5 which was a big improvement on how things have been here and we were close on a couple of games that could have gone either way, so I think we set up things for the program to be better in the future."

Ball didn't put up eye-popping numbers this fall -- 30 tackles, one interception and 10 passes defensed -- but that wasn't his fault.

"Teams didn't throw to my side," Ball said. "It was frustrating, but you have to take it as a sign of respect because they are afraid of throwing at you."

On the recruiting front, Ball has four offers and one still remains at the top.

"Akron has offered and I'm going to be out there visiting them on December 12th," Ball said. "I'm also being recruited pretty heavily by Northern Illinois and they are real close to home so they are the school I've been leaning toward for a while."

In addition to those two schools, Toledo and New Mexico have also offered.

Ball is on pace to graduate in May and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
