One visit set for Ruffin

One of the top JC backs that has flown under the radar this season is College of the Sequoias RB Giavanni Ruffin (6-0, 215). The gifted big-back has a few offers under his belt and he recently set up a visit with a Conference USA school. JCFootball.com caught up with Ruffin recently and he gave us an update on his season and where he's at in recruiting at this point...

Ruffin managed to post 500 yards and seven touchdowns for COS this season while working in a "running back by committee" for the Giants.

"We had several really talented backs, so we all shared time," Ruffin told JCFootball.com. "As a back you want to get all the carries, especially if you are a competitor, but you have to be a teammate too, so we just worked together and there wasn't any in-fighting over it."

Ruffin has been the target of several schools most of the year and recently he set up a visit with a Conference USA program.

"East Carolina just started coming on for me and they offered and I'm visiting there on January 10th," Ruffin said. "I'm still looking closely at UTEP and Nevada as well.

"(Nevada) told me they liked me and if they took a JC back that I would be the guy they take.

"I was supposed to visit Memphis back in October, but that sorta fell through so I don't know if I will make it out there or not."

Ruffin is still on pace to graduate in May and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
