Evans narrows things down

One of the best JC pass-rushers in the California JUCO ranks this year was L.A. Harbor DE DeQuin Evans (6-3, 255). He's become a very important recruit to several BCS programs recently and after taking his first official visit this past weekend, he's starting to narrow some things down...

Evans had an outstanding season for the Seahawks in 2008, posting 48 tackles, 27 tackles-for-loss and eight sacks from a variety of positions.

"Sometimes I stood up and rushed the quarterback and sometimes I had my hand on the ground," Evans told JCFootball.com. "Sometimes I stood out wide, over the slot receiver, and then I blitzed, so they had me coming at the offense from a bunch of different positions."

Evans has been on the radar of schools from across the country including schools like USC, LSU, Arizona State, Washington State, Oregon, Kentucky, Kansas, Miami, Kansas State, Oregon State and Nebraska amonth others.

Recently he took a visit to one of the schools he's favoring and that opened his eyes quite a bit.

"I was at Kansas this past weekend," Evans said. "I really liked it a lot. It was a lot of fun for me to be there and getting to meet people and see their program up close.

"Kentucky came to visit me tonight actually, I just had dinner with the coach and they have really showed me how much they like me and want me. I'm going out there this weekend (Dec. 12th) to check them out.

"Oregon is the other school I'm going to visit and I will be up there the second weekend of January (Jan. 9th)."

Aside from those three visits, Evans said he'd like to visit Miami if the Hurricanes still are interested.

"They haven't been in touch with me as much as some of the other schools have, but I really like them a lot," Evans said. "If I can set up a visit with them, then I would do it in a heartbeat because they are a great program and they rebounded this year and finished strong."

Evans is on pace to graduate in May and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
