Recruiting picks up for Meadows

When you bust out with 16.5 sacks to go along with 98 tackles, that will get you on some D-1 radars. San Jose LB/DE Jerome Meadows (6-2.5, 225) has gone from relative unknown to being squarely in the crosshairs of BCS programs from across the country. caught up with the defensive playmaker recently and he updated us on things including a visit he has scheduled to a Pac 10 school...

"I'm going to Cal this weekend and they said they will probably offer me while I'm there," Meadows told "They are so close to where I'm at now, so that would be cool, but I don't have to stay close to here because I'm from the east coast.

"Kansas is bringing me in to visit on January 14th, so that is my second trip and then Oregon, Boise State and a couple of other schools are trying to get me to come visit after the holidays, so I'm looking at who I want to visit."

Because he didn't play much as a freshman in 2006 and then he redshirted in 2007, Meadows didn't garner a lot of early recruiting attention this past summer, but after his amazing sophomore season schools have really picked up the pace.

"I'm getting so many calls right now it's been crazy," Meadows said with a chuckle. "I'm excited though. After the season I had, my coaches said I would see things pick up and they have."

Meadows is on pace to sign with a school in February and he'll have two years to play two wherever he ends up.
