Davis decides to commit to Cal

The Cal coaching staff got some good news this weekend when Cerritos DE Ryan Davis (6-4, 250) decided to make a commitment on his official visit. JCFootball.com caught up with the athletic pass-rusher who had an outstanding season for the Falcons and he talked to us about his season and his commitment.

Davis used his impressive size and 4.75 forty time to post solid numbers this season while helping to lead the Falcons to a 7-3 record.

In 10 games, Davis amassed 32 tackles, 17 quarterback hurries, eight sacks, 11 tackles-for-loss, three fumble recoveries, and two forced fumbles.

"I had a good year, but we didn't win our division, so that was kinda disappointing," Davis said. "Individually, I think I did pretty well, but it's more about the team than just me."

Davis raved about his official visit to North Carolina State back on the last weekend of November, but this weekend he took a trip to California and that really opened his eyes.

"I actually committed to them today at breakfast," Davis said. "It was cool, the coaches were happy and I'm happy I get to stay closer to home."

In addition to his offers from Cal and North Carolina State, Davis had offers from Kansas, Hawaii, Akron, UNLV, New Mexico and Florida International and heavy interest from Oregon, Oregon State, Washington State, Arizona among others.

Davis will sign his letter-of-intent in February and he'll have three years to play two once he steps on campus.
