MAC school reels in Harper's Jenkins

Harper DE Kyle Jenkins (6-4, 260) became a favorite of several MAC schools late this fall and after taking a trip to one of those programs who had offered he decided to commit to the school he had the most familiarity with. JCFootball.com caught up with the pass-rushing terror recently and he updated us on things including which school got his signed Letter-of-Intent today...

"I committed to Northern Illinois a couple of days ago and I signed my letter and faxed it in today," an excited Jenkins told JCFootball.com. "It's cool because they are the school I knew the best and I already had a friend going there and they wanted me to start out at defensive end and that's where I want to play."

Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan both got official visits from Jenkins and he was heavily considering them, but in the end he just felt more comfortable with the Huskies.

"Western Michigan wanted me to start at defensive tackle," Jenkins said. "Their scheme just wasn't a fit for me, but with NIU it was all about me starting off at end and if I can't cut it out there, then I can move inside."

Jenkins was an opposing offense's worst nightmare this past season, posting 62 tackles and 19.5 sacks -- yes 19.5 sacks -- while earning First Team All-Conference and All-Region honors.

Jenkins was a full qualifier out of high school and he'll have three years to play when he enrolls at Northern Illinois in January.
