Jones has three visits scheduled

A defensive back that has become a hot commodity lately in recruiting circles is Phoenix College CB Santonyo Jones (5-11, 190). He had a solid sophomore campaign and several schools are looking his way. JCFootball.com caught up with the talented cover-man and he updated us on things...

Jones prepped at Lake Taylor High School in Norfold, Virginia and was a highly touted player, but he was unable to qualify and after enrolling at Hutchinson, he decided he was ready for warmer climes, so he headed to Phoenix College to continue his football career.

Now, after two solid seasons for the Bears, Jones said things have begun to pick up on the recruiting front.

"I have offers from Wyoming, Louisiana Tech, Southeast Missouri and Texas Southern right now," Jones told JCFootball.com recently. "West Virginia just got my tape and they called and said they like me a lot and want me to come out and visit them and Oregon, Oregon State, Louisville and Kansas State are all keeping tabs on me too.

"As far as visits are concerned, I have Wyoming on January 10th, Louisiana Tech on the 17th and right now I have Southeast Missouri on the 30th."

As a sophomore this past season, Jones locked down his side notching eight interceptions and 43 tackles while earning First Team All-Conference honors.

"I like to get up on guys and play man-to-man," Jones said. "I like to get physical and turn and run with receivers. Being aggressive is what I do best."

Jones is on pace to graduate in May and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
