JC GRID-WIRE RANKINGS (FINAL 2002)

SANTA ANA – Ca. Mike White's Reedley College Tigers unloaded a staunch defense and enough offense to down College of the Canyons 35-15, to win their first J.C. Grid-Wire National J.C. Championship. The victory decided the California State title after the Tigers had defeated backyard rival Fresno, two weeks in a row, to earn the right to meet Canyons at Bakersfield's Memorial Stadium.

Butte College finished fast to get second in the rankings, barely nudging Northeastern Oklahoma, Palomar and Joliet. San Francisco, national champs the past three years, had two losses and finished in 14th place. Earlier in the year they extended their winning streak to 42 straight victories.
