Rankin likes the look of Pac 10 program

Butte DE Brandon Rankin (6-4, 250) had a great season for the top JUCO program in the country this year and he's turned that excellent productivity into some offers. He's already set a visit to one of the schools he's favoring and more could be finalized soon. JCFootball.com caught up with the pass-rushing madman recently and he updated us on things...

"Washington State offered me a couple of weeks ago and I'm visiting them on January 23rd," Rankin told JCFootball.com on Sunday afternoon. "I mean, they have a good school and I talked to their D-line coach (Malik Roberson) and he said the only real part of their team that struggled last year was their defensive line, so they want me to come in and get after the QB."

Well, should he choose the Cougars, Rankin will be able to do what he does best. As a sophomore for the top-ranked Roadrunners, he posted 24 sacks, 23 tackles-for-loss and 62 tackles.

"I used my speed and I started working on some moves as well," Rankin said. "Here (at the JC level) I could use my athleticism, but I know at D-1 I will need some moves and in the NFL, those guys all have moves, so I worked on that as well last summer."

Besides his visit to Washington State, Rankin said other schools are working hard to get him to visit and he's close to locking in at least two more officials.

"Oregon State and Louisville want me to visit them," Rankin said. "They haven't offered me yet, but they said they will probably offer me on my visit after they have a chance to go over my transcripts and stuff.

"LSU offered me, but they want me to redshirt, so I might do that and North Carolina State offered me a while ago and I might visit them too, I'm not sure yet though."

Rankin said he's working hard to finish up his two-year degree in May and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
