McClellan eyes visit to Kentucky

Canyons QB Brad McClellan (6-4, 207) led one of the top offensive attacks in the JUCO ranks the past two seasons and now Kentucky is looking to bring him in for a visit. JCFootball.com caught up with the gifted signal-caller and he updated us on recruiting and why the Wildcats are so intriguing to him.

"I'll be at Kentucky on January 15th," McClellan told JCFootball.com. "They offered me a while ago and I'm really interested in them, so it should be fun out there.

"They've been an up-and-coming program and they've gone to bowl games the past couple seasons and they play in the SEC, so it's definitely a program that I'm focused on."

Besides the Wildcats, McClellan is also hearing from South Florida, Middle Tennessee, Cincinnati and U-Mass.

As a sophomore, McClellan led a potent Canyons attack that featured some of the top skill position talent in the country.

He completed over 65% of his passes for 2,326 yards and 23 touchdowns with only seven interceptions and he possesses enough athleticism to keep defenses honest, posting over 600 yards and eight touchdowns as a runner.

"Things were easier for me this year than they were last year," McClellan admitted. "I mean, I was confused a lot last year, but this year I recognized defenses a little better and I knew what to expect, plus I had a guy like Hayo (Carpenter) out there and he makes things a lot easier on you.

"I'm working hard at getting better at reading defenses and making the right adjustments and if I do that I think I can be a lot better than I was this season."

McClellan will graduate in May and he'll have three years to play two wherever he ends up.
