Ruffin plans to commit this weekend

College of the Sequoias RB Giavanni Ruffin (6-0, 215) had two solid seasons for the Giants and now he's ready to make his college decision. He's currently in North Carolina visiting the East Carolina Pirates and he told recently he plans to commit while he's on campus...

"I just feel like they are the best school for me," Ruffin told "They have a great program (at East Carolina) and they really want to make sure we reach our full potential. I'm really liking what they have to offer me there.

"I went on an unofficial visit there during the Thanksgiving break and it was just a great feel there. The running back coach there knows what he's doing and how to utilize me right."

Other schools who have been working hard to get Ruffin out on a visit are UTEP and Memphis, one of the schools who offered Ruffin before the season, but he said he doubts he will be taking a visit to those schools.

"I don't know," Ruffin said. "I mean, they have good programs there too and I liked Memphis for a while, but ECU is just the right feel for me so I don't think I'm going to take any more visits after this one."

Ruffin shared time in the COS backfield this past season, but still managed to post 500 yards and seven touchdowns and led the team in both categories.

Ruffin will finish his two-year degree in May and he'll have three years to play two once he steps on campus.
